Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s wife, Sunita, has initiated a campaign named “Kejriwal ko Aashirwaad” (Blessings for Kejriwal) on Friday, aiming to garner support for her husband amidst ongoing legal challenges. Sunita Kejriwal emphasized her husband’s dedication as a “true nationalist” who has consistently confronted oppressive forces in the country over the past three decades.

Campaign Highlights:

Sunita Kejriwal described her husband as a fearless leader who has stood against tyranny and dictatorial regimes throughout his career.
Encouraging citizens to stand by Arvind Kejriwal during challenging times, Sunita shared a WhatsApp number (8297324624) for individuals to send their wishes and blessings to the Delhi Chief Minister.
The launch of the “Kejriwal ko Aashirwaad” campaign comes in the backdrop of Arvind Kejriwal’s dramatic arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on March 21 in connection with a liquor policy case.

Legal Developments:

During a recent court hearing, Arvind Kejriwal questioned the rationale behind his arrest, pointing out that among 162 witnesses examined by the ED, his name was mentioned only in four instances.
Kejriwal accused the ED of orchestrating an extortion racket, alleging that the actual excise scam emerged post the ED’s probe, not during the formulation of the policy.
On the contrary, the ED stated that Kejriwal was providing evasive responses during his custodial interrogation, reinforcing their allegations of kickbacks received by Kejriwal from the ‘South group’ regarding the Delhi Excise Policy.

Political Reactions and Protests:

In response to Kejriwal’s arrest, the opposition INDIA bloc has organized a protest near the BJP headquarters, leading to heightened security measures in the area.
The Delhi Police have imposed prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) to prevent large gatherings during the protest.
AAP leaders have been actively protesting against Kejriwal’s arrest and the electoral bonds issue, showcasing continued political tensions and mobilizations in the capital.

Upcoming Rally:

The INDIA bloc has announced plans for a significant rally at Ramleela Maidan on March 31, further indicating the charged political atmosphere and ongoing developments in Delhi’s political landscape.

The “Kejriwal ko Aashirwaad” campaign and subsequent protests underscore the intense political dynamics and public sentiments surrounding Arvind Kejriwal’s arrest, highlighting the intersection of legal proceedings and political activism in the region.
